Planning their Engagement Photos at Avalanche Lake
When we were deciding where Andrew and Victoria’s engagement photos should take place, Avalanche Lake stole their hearts! After discussing a variety of locations within the park, the two of them loved the idea of incorporating adventure and hiking to Avalanche Lake on the west side of Glacier National Park into their engagement photos to really capture their love for exploring and adventuring together.
They had never been to Avalanche Lake before but trusted my recommendation. Avalanche Lake was the first hike my husband and I went on in Glacier National Park and it has held such a special place in my heart ever since.
Leading up to the day of their session, I was undeniably excited for them to soak in the beauty of one of my favorite hikes in both Glacier National Park and Montana as a whole. Winter felt far too long here in Montana, and it felt good to bring out my hiking boots for the first time in the season for an adventurous engagement session!
Day-of their Engagement Photos at Avalanche Lake
From the time they picked me up from my hotel in Kalispell until the end of the night when we were going through the Burger King drive-thru – we all had such a blast getting to know each other, chatting about The Office and Parks and Rec, and sharing stories of work and life. As we hiked, we listened to their favorite music while sipping on beer and canned wine (by far my favorite adventure drink)!
The magic of hiking to Avalanche Lake never seems to fade and this time was no exception. From beginning the hike wandering along the Trail of the Cedars to soaking in the beautiful alpine lake surrounded by mountains and waterfalls. Although it wasn’t my first time hiking to Avalanche Lake, this was my first time visiting this spot in the evening and I am beyond in love with the look of the light hitting the mountains as the sun sets – it’s a totally different look from other times I’ve been there and I thought it was simply stunning! Definitely my new time of day to visit and it was even better to be able to avoid some of the morning through mid-day crowds.
Throughout the session, their genuine love and connection shone through and it was such a blast to photograph them simply enjoying each other’s company and soaking up all of the love during their photos. We spent so much time laughing together during the session, but they also had so many moments where Victoria looked at me and said “oh my goodness, I totally forgot you were here!”.
Montana truly never disappoints and I can’t think of a more perfect spot in Glacier National Park for these two to have had their love captured for their engagement photos.
