Alex and Katie’s Glacier National Park Wedding at Saint Mary Lake and Celebration in Whitefish

From the moment that I chatted on the phone with Katie and Alex about their Glacier National Park wedding, I felt so connected to who they were and the energy that the two of them brought to our call. In our time together we experienced it all for our two days together: torrential rain and a moody sunset for one day followed by crazy winds and a breathtaking serene night the next.

Rainy Day-Before Session

One of the most common concerns that eloping couples present to me is that they’re worried about rain on their day. Which is totally valid, I get that!

When talking about their day before session Katie said, “despite it being 45 degrees and raining, Jessica kept us laughing and smiling the whole time.”

A pro tip is to release any expectations for weather for your Glacier National Park wedding day and to fully embrace whatever comes our way. Sometimes it can be possible to make adjustments to the day-of timing of your day but sometimes it’s just rainy all day long and we’ve gotta grab the clear umbrellas and dance in the rain!

Windswept Saint Mary Wedding Ceremony

The next day, Katie and Alex gathered along the shore of Saint Mary with 20 of their closest family members for an intimate ceremony celebrating their love for one another. It was by far one of the windiest days I’ve ever experienced on that side of the park, but it was breathtaking all the same. Katie’s father officiated their ceremony and I loved looking around at the pure joy on the faces of their family members.

While there are countless amazing locations to get married in Glacier National Park, the views you get from the shore of Saint Mary for your wedding in Glacier National Park are truly unmatched and only require a quick walk along a flat trail from the parking area.

Celebration in Whitefish, Montana

Following their wedding in Glacier National Park, we ventured back to Whitefish for dinner and dancing at their Airbnb. They danced on the back porch of their cabin until dark and it was so much fun to be part of!
