Being born and raised in Central Virginia (and now getting to photograph weddings here), I wanted to compile a list of my favorite Central / Richmond Virginia wedding venues to check out for your special day! Downtown Richmond Wedding Venues

Maymont Park

Maymont Park is one of the most iconic wedding venues on this list! They’ve got multiple options for your ceremony, including the 100-year-old Italian Garden filled with stone architecture and breathtaking landscaping year-round. While the Italian Garden has a seated capacity of 75, having your ceremony at the Blue Atlas Cedar would allow up to 250 people in attendance! The reception spaces have a maximum capacity of 150 seated, so if you’re looking to have more people than that, you may want to have the reception elsewhere!

1000 Westover

Located near the Maymont Farm and Byrd Park, 1000 Westover is the perfect wedding venue for something with a little more Mediterranean-meets-modern flair. Picnic Hill provides the perfect ceremony space if you’re looking for a nature setting whereas the Reinhard Courtyard lets you immerse yourself in the Mediterranean atmosphere! Both have a capacity of 100 people and the reception space allows for 80-100 guests.

The Poe Museum

If you’re a lover of all things history or literature (or better yet both) the charm of the Poe Museum would be right up your alley! This downtown Richmond wedding venue in Shockoe Bottom is best for guest counts of 75 and below. The brick archways of the garden make for a picturesque backdrop for you two to say “I do” in front of your loved ones.

Quirk Hotel Richmond

Although my favorite time to visit Quirk Hotel is during Christmas to see their pink decor, during warmer seasons this venue is the perfect spot for your downtown celebration! Not only is the hotel a photographer’s paradise with so many unique features, it also has a variety of location options for your wedding. My favorite spot in the hotel is the rooftop – there’s just something beautiful about couples watching the sunset or dancing the night away with the lights of Richmond as their backdrop. There are also other spots, like the Courtyard, to provide you with a more intimate experience.

Virginia Museum of History and Culture

Part of the Virginia Museum of History and Culture is the Virginia House, a beautiful property that overlooks the James River and has acres of beautiful gardens and space to bring all of the magic to your day. 

Linden Row Inn

Linden Row Inn is a historic boutique hotel located in downtown Richmond, and with 70 rooms, it makes for the perfect destination if you’re having guests traveling from out of town. This venue is definitely best suited for an intimate wedding with 60 or less guests, but the garden courtyard can accommodate up to 125 guests when combined with the board room. Linden Row Inn was also voted a 2024 Top Wedding Vendor by Virginia Living Magazine!

North Side Wedding Venues

Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden

For 40 years now, Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden has been a local staple and is availabile for your Richmond Virgnia year-round, except for during the GardenFest of Lights in the winter. They also have an elopement option for under 25 guests for folks leaning towards a smaller ceremony with loved ones! On YouTube, you’ll find a playlist touring each of their event spaces, making it easy to see if it feels like the right place for your wedding!

Seven Springs

Seven Springs is nestled on over 100 acres of land and located about 20 miles north of Richmond. Not only is there the opportunity to have up to 200 guests at your wedding, there is also on-site lodging for up to 20 guests to make the drive outside of town a bit more manageable. There is stunning greenery galore, the ceremony space is lined with magnolia and seasonally there’s also a wildflower field for those perfect wedding portraits! I also simply can’t resist mentioning the Hog Island Sheep on the property.

Oakdale

My favorite thing about Oakdale, located on 100+ acres of farmland in Ashland, is their modern take on the barn wedding venue! The interior space looks so elegant for and indoor ceremony (escape the weather!) or a reception. Some outdoor features also include rolling hill views, three ponds, and a fire pit – does it get much better?! This Richmond Virginia wedding venue is ideal if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of being close to the city while still being just minutes from wedding day must-haves, whether it’s a breakfast run to Chick-fil-a or a drink from Starbucks! 

Polegreen Church

Polegreen Church in Mechanicsville is arguably the most unique wedding venue in Richmond Virginia! The structure is essentially a church without walls – just white poles and windows. To me, it gives off really artistic and magical vibes. Fun fact – it gained popularity when Jason Mraz got married here in 2015. As of 2024, their prices are also all under $1,000 for a ceremony and reception, but you can have just your ceremony here for under $500.

The Manor House at King’s Charter

The Manor House at King’s Charter boasts an impressive total of eight WeddingWire Couples’ Choice Awards! My favorite space at this venue is definitely the outside area lined with string light bulbs, creating the most romantic setting to celebrate saying “I do” to your favorite person. 

The Virginia Cliffe Inn

Bed and Breakfast meets wedding venue… need I say more?! Faturing a beautifully groomed lawn, mature trees, gardens, and even a pond with swans, it really makes for the perfect venue in Henrico County, just north of Richmond. As far as lodging goes, there are 5 rooms available for guests to stay in, one of those being a suite with a balcony. And what better way to start your wedding day than with a homestyle southern breakfast?!

South Side Wedding Venues

The Mill at Fine Creek

The Mill at Fine Creek has so many breathtaking features that make a wedding venue amazing. When the owners found the property of Fine Creek Mills, they knew that it was something special. The stone structures from the old mills (featuring string lights) make for the most fairytale setting in the heart of Central Virginia. There is also a nearby creek featuring granite rock that makes a great backdrop for your wedding portraits with a more outdoorsy flair than some of the other venues I’ve shared. This venue also has cottages for guests and a brewery on-site!

The Hidden Oaks

The Hidden Oaks wedding venue property is filled with trees, I can’t help but imagine that this would be the perfect venue for a fall wedding especially! This south side wedding venue in North Chesterfield perfectly combines the cozy feeling of being nestled in the woods with a modern touch. It’s no surprise that in 2023 it was voted the best new wedding venue by Richmond Bridal Magazine.

East End Wedding Venues

Mankin Mansion

Like many of the Richmond Virginia wedding venues I’ve covered, Mankin Mansion is filled with history at 100 years old. Built by a prominent brick manufacturer, it’s hard not to notice the stunning brickwork of this location! On their website, they note that the venue is “a perfect balance between the old and the new, the outside and the in.” Since rain is never out of the question in Virginia, it’s great that they take extra care to have beautiful spaces for couples no matter if it’s indoors or out!

West End Wedding Venues

Dover Hall

Although Dover Hall is nestled in Goochland County, the English Tudor-style estate almost makes you feel like you’ve been transported to an entirely different country! This wedding venue near Short Pump is elegant and ethereal and your guests are sure to have an unforgettable experience celebrating your wedding day. Although their website offers a virtual tour, the experience of being immersed and experiencing Dover Hall for yourself is well worth the trip.
