Bouldering Adventure Engagement Session in Colorado
If you’re looking to have an adventurous engagement session in Colorado, I highly recommend doing what Maya and David did and having more lifestyle engagement photos in the mountains.
Planning Their Colorado Engagement Photos
Something that I can’t recommend enough is that your engagement photos should be an occasion that’s way more intentional than snapping a photo for your save the dates (although that can be part of it). David really wanted for their time in front of the camera to have minimum posing and directing and include more of the two of them were naturally interacting, just with a photographer along to capture it. Although I’ll admit that it scared me a little at first to ditch the directing, I really loved this quest for deeper authenticity and the opportunity to capture two people just being themselves.
Their Lifestyle Adventurous Engagement Session
We met at sunrise at the top of a mountain pass and I captured the two of starting this Saturday morning together, just as they may if I wasn’t there capturing it. They began with some time soaking in the beautiful landscape before the sun rose and loving on each other followed by coffee-making and reading with their dog, Pilot. After they were properly caffeinated, we made our way down the mountain and hiked the approach to some bouldering spots tucked in the forest off of the highway. I had never witnessed people bouldering in person and to say I was floored by the strength and strategy it takes would be an understatement.
