Colorado Springs Micro Wedding at Garden of the Gods
When Kenzie and Sean reached out to me about photographing their Garden of the Gods wedding, they mentioned that a big “why” behind having a wedding like this was because, at the root of it all, they wanted a meaningful experience surrounded by their closest loved ones. They mentioned that traditional weddings can come with so much stress and drama on top of it all and the biggest bonus of planning an elopement or intimate wedding is being free of that! And amazing photos to show for it was a pretty good perk of it as well!
Now let’s get into their story, shall we?! These two have been friends since kindergarten, over the years they had kept in touch off and on and eventually started dating during their undergrad years in college! Now they’re doing life together with their two sweet dogs, who they included in their day by incorporating tags into Kenzie’s bouquet (so sweet!).
Planning Their Garden of the Gods Microwedding
When planning their micro wedding, Kenzie and Sean wanted to travel to a place with epic mountain views that they could not get at home in Southern Illinois. After chatting through the possibilities for an early May wedding, they decided that a Colorado Springs wedding at Garden of the Gods was a perfect fit for them! Garden of the Gods is a great location for the late spring / early summer when higher elevations haven’t quite thawed out yet.
Their Intimate Wedding Day
The day started early for Kenzie and Sean, I arrived at 3:30 am to capture some getting-ready photos. Kenzie got ready with the help of her mom and sister and Sean with the help of his mom. They then shared a first look in the beautiful lobby of their hotel, The Embassy Suites by Hilton in Colorado Springs. The two of them then read letters they had written for each other before we headed out to the Garden of the Gods for sunrise. After some adventuring and getting some breathtaking photos at sunrise we made our way to their ceremony location. With a jaw-dropping backdrop of mountains, Kenzie and Sean had a beautiful ceremony in the dazzling morning light with their loved ones. After their ceremony, Kenzie and Sean headed to lunch with their family and spent the afternoon celebrating with them. Following the ceremony by sharing a meal together, either at a restaurant or catered at your Airbnb, is the perfect way to include family on your elopement day.
